SKILLED VISAS

Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa (Permanent):

This visa caters to people who have a specific skill where Australia is in shortage of and does not require sponsorship.

With this Visa:

  • You will be able to live and work in Australia indefinitely.
  • You must lodge an Expression of Interest with the State in which you would like to reside and work.
  • Your skills and English assessment results must satisfy the minimum pass standards.
  • You must attach your skills assessment and English test results with your expression of interest.
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.
  • You must have at least 65 points to be eligible for consideration by the Department. The more points you have the more likely your chances will be to receive an invitation.
  • You must be aged between 18 and 44 years old.
  • You must receive an invitation by the Department.
  • You must make your application within the time frame stated within the invitation.

Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa (Permanent)

This Visa caters to people who have a required specific skill nominated by the State or Territory Government.

With this Visa:

  • You will be able to live and work in Australia indefinitely.
  • You must lodge an Expression of Interest with the State in which you would like to reside and work.
  • You must be nominated by the State or Territory Government in which you intend to live and work.
  • Your skills and English assessment results must satisfy the minimum pass standards.
  • You must attach your skills assessment and English test results with your expression of interest.u fall into the exempted category.
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.
  • You must have at least 65 points to be eligible for consideration by the Department. The more points you have the more likely your chances will be to receive an invitation.
  • You must be aged between 18 and 44 years old.
  • You must receive an invitation by the Department.
  • You must make your application within the time frame stated within the invitation.

Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional Visa (Temporary):

This visa is a pathway for those who would like to live and work in a Regional area of Australia temporarily with the intention to make an application for Australian Permanency at a later stage.

With this Visa:

  • You will be able to live and work in Australia temporarily.
  • You must lodge an Expression of Interest with the State in which you would like to reside and work.
  • You must be nominated by the State or Territory Government in which you intend to live and work.
  • Your skills and English assessment results must satisfy the minimum pass standards.
  • You must attach your skills assessment and English test results with your expression of interest.
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

Subclass 485 – Temporary Graduate Visa (Temporary):

This Visa caters to people who have completed 2 years of study in Australia and would like to extend their stay to improve their chances of obtaining a permanent or temporary skilled visa. There are two streams in this visa which are Post Study Work stream and the Graduate Work Stream (18 Months stay).

With this Visa:

  • You have unrestricted work rights in Australia.
  • You must have completed 2 years of study in Australia with a recognised educational provider. Depending on your nominated qualification, you may be able to stay in Australia for 2, 3 or 4 years.
  • You must satisfy the English requirement either through an English assessment or by being a holder of certain passport.
  • You must make the application within 6 months of completing the course.
  • You must be under 50 years old.
  • You must maintain private health insurance during the life of your visa.
  • You could undertake study part time.

There are additional extended period entitlements for those who have completed their studies in regional areas of Australia. This Visa is not points tested. Speak with our experienced team today to understand if you are eligible for this visa and the options available to you.

Subclass 476 – Skilled Recognised Graduate Visa (Temporary):

This Visa caters to people who are engineering graduates. This Visa recognises the engineering qualification and permits recent engineering graduates to improve their chances of becoming eligible to apply for permanent or temporary skilled visas through applying their knowledge to practical work experience by way of employment.

With this Visa:

  • You must have completed a minimum qualification of bachelor level in the Engineering field.
  • You must have completed the qualification at a recognised educational provider which is accredited.
  • You must have satisfied the English Language requirement.
  • You must be under 31 years of age at the date of lodgement.
  • You must be outside Australia at the time of grant.

This Visa will permit you to stay in Australia for a period of 18 months from the date of first entry into Australia. This Visa is not points tested. If you have an engineering qualification and would like to raise your chances of becoming eligible for a skilled Visa to further your stay in Australia either temporarily or permanently, our office will be able to guide and assist you with your best pathway.

Subclass 887 – Skilled Regional Visa (Permanent):

This Visa is the second stage transitional visa pathway for those who are holders of subclasses 489, 475, 487, 496 and 495 visas and would like to apply for Permanent residency. This visa does not require any sponsorship.

With this Visa:

  • You have held a temporary visa for the last 2 years.
  • You must have lived in a regional area of Australia for the last 2 years.
  • You must have worked full time in the regional area. The employment position need not be a skilled occupation.
  • You will be able to live, work and study indefinitely in Australia.

Subclass 191 visa

This visa caters to individuals who have lived, worked and studied in designated regional areas and would like to become an Australian permanent resident. This visa will be available from November 2022.

Key Requirements

  • You must hold a 491 or 494 for at least 3 years at the time of application.
  • You must have earned the minimum taxable income for at least 3 years as the holder of the regional visa.
  • You must have complied with the conditions of your regional visa.
  • You must satisfy the Australian permanent residency points test.
